During the second half of the twentieth century some artists recovered until then "improper" techniques of artistic practice. Louise Bourgeois, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Sheila Hicks, Eva Hesse or Annette Messager were some of the pioneers in introducing sewing, embroidery and weaving into the art world thus breaking with the conventions of the art world.

Since then many artists have followed them and there is currently a large group of creators who, aware that the textile and derived techniques have traditionally associated with the feminine condition, value them as a cultural heritage and have incorporated them into their artistic practice.

The exhibition "Teixint Identitats/ Weaving identities" brings together the work of thirty-one artists who, regardless of their sex, recover sewing, embroidery and other artisanal techniques to remove them from anonymity and incorporate them into their creative processes.

The works presented in the exhibition have the common link of the fabric and explore issues related to gender, identity, the domestic or personal environment as well as social and environmental issues.

Artists: Ana Musma, Noé Bermejo, Irene Casas, David Catá, Toni Coll, Sara Coleman, Regina Dejiménez, Maribel Domènech, Fanny Galera, Rocío Garriga, Ascension García, Matilde Grau, Eulàlia Grau Costa, Mónica Jover, Iratxe Larrea, Sara Llobregat , Lucia Loren, Carmen Marcos with Victoria Bahena, Claudia Martínez, Chelo Matesanz, Silvia Molinero Domingo, Jesús Monteagudo Guerra, María Muñoz Torregrosa, Natividad Navalón, María Ortega, Laura Piñeiro, Concha Romeu, Encarna Sáenz Llorente, Eva Santos, Bía Santos and Viladomiu angels.
